Late June, 2014, minutes before going on stage, a cousin came to tell me Hank had overdosed and was intensive care unit. I have always touted my quick reflexes and feared my fight or flight responses when trauma is at hand. I played the set anyway, eighteen or so songs, and spent the first of many hours in the ICU waiting room, having no idea how to feel. I buried my brother on July 2nd. It wasn't until late October that I was able to finish my ode to him. Some say it is my best. I would hope so -- his life from birth a raw deal in many regards, the best, posthumous be it, it a testament he well deserves. I could never do you justice, brother.
